We have received your letter informing us that you have so
far failed to ship our order No.281 for 10 sets of Electronic
Oven. To ensure their punctual arrival we strongly urge
that we make shipment by October 30.

출하된 제품이 도착하지 않았습니다.
Shipment는 반드시 선박에 의한 출하에 한하지 않고, 철도나
자동차에 의한 운송에도 사용하는 단어입니다. 「운송 회사」는
cargo company, freight company, transportation company 등으로
말합니다. We have done everything we can. 은 「할 수 있는
데까지 했다」의 의미로 We did our best라고도 말할 수 있습니다.
Merchandise는 제품 products를 총칭적으로 「상품」이라고
표현하는 말입니다. in perfect (good, excellent) condition의
반대는 in poor (bad) condition입니다.

CLAIM FOR NON-ARRIVAL OF PRODUCTS
Mr. West: This is to tell you that your shipment hasn't
arrived yet. I think you got our FAX.
Mr. Lee: Yes, we are sorry for the delay. We have looked into
the cause and found that the cargo company somehow misplaced
your order.
Mr. West: If the order does not arrive by the end of this
month, we may have to cancel it.
Mr. Lee: Just a minute, Mr. West. We have done everything we
can to reschedule the shipment, so we are pretty sure you'll
get our products by the end of this month.
Mr. West: Are the products all right?
Mr. Lee: Yes, the merchandise will arrive in perfect
condition.
Mr. West: O.K. I understand.
아직 도착하지 않은 제품에 대한 요구(클레임)
웨스트: 보내셨다는 제품이 아직도 도착하지 않았습니다. Fax를
받으셨을 줄로 압니다만…
이철수: 예, 늦어져서 정말 죄송합니다. 원인을 알아 보았더니
운송회사 쪽에서 귀사의 주문품을 잘못 선적시킨 것 같습니다.
웨스트: 이달 말까지 도착하지 않으면, 주문을 취하하겠습니다.
이철수: 잠깐만요, 저희가 최선을 다해서 다시 제품 발송을
했습니다. 따라서 이번 ?말까지는 반드시 도착할 것입니다.
웨스트: 제품의 상태는 괜찮을까요?
이철수: 예, 완전한 상태로 도착할 것입니다.
웨스트: 잘 알겠습니다.

클레임은 거래에 수반되는 어두운 면입니다. 예기치 못한 때에
예기치도 못한 원인으로 일이 발생하는 것으로, 그 대처 방법에
따라서 상대방에게 전혀 다른 인상을 줄 수 있습니다. 구미의
회사와 계약을 맺고 있다면 단순히 사과하는 것에 그쳐서는
안됩니다. 즉시 원인을 규명해서 그 대처 방안을 세우고, 그것을
지체 없이 상대에게 전해서 안심시켜야 합니다. 만일 제품의
일부가 어떤 손상을 입었을 경우에는 We'll ship the replacement
for the damaged products immediately. 라고 대답합니다.

시.아이.에프 (CIF / Cost, Insurance and Freight)
수출입 상품의 비용 및 선적시부터 도착지 까지의 운임, 보험료를 포함한 가격을
말하며 공급자가 운임, 보험료를 전부 부담하는 무역거래 조건의 하나.
