We cannot understand how the council could have acted in this way.
In the first place, the employment of councilors' assistants using the
municipal budget to pay them runs counter to the Local Autonomy Law
that defines the status of council member as being an honorary
position without remuneration.

Yongsan Base Park Plan : 용산 미군기지 시민공원계획
We welcome the Seoul city government's plan to turn the Yongsan
military compound now used by the Eighth U.S. Army into a public
park. Coming on top of the construction of a sports park in the Ttuksom
area in eastern Seoul and an ecological park around Yoido Islet of the
Han River as well, this will add substantially to the green areas in
which the people of Seoul are able to relax and slough off the troubles
of daily life.

A small part of the Yongsan military base has already been returned
to Seoul citizens and made a ``family park.'' But the remaining 3.16
million square meters of the sprawling base now valued at
approximately 10 trillion won, is still in the hands of the U.S. Forces in

The government at both the central and provincial levels needs to
drastically expand park acreage and resting spaces for urban residents.
The problem is the huge cost involved in securing land sites in this age
of astronomical land prices. Therefore, the return of the Yongsan U.S.
military base will perhaps be the last chance for Seoul City to
substantially increase its park space.

양키본드(Yankee Bond):미국이 아닌 정부나 공공기관 또는 일반기업체가
미국자본시장에서 달러화로 발행하는 채권. 일본이외의 국가정부나
공공기관 또는 일반기업체가 일본시장에서 엔화로 발행하는 채권을
사무라이 본드라고 부르는 것도 마찬가지다.
미국자본시장은 규모도 크지만 매우 안정돼 있어 금리조건을 유리하게 할

일반기업이 양키본드를 발행한 것은 최근 SK텔레콤의 2억3천만달러가
처음이다.
양키본드는 발행절차 자체가 까다롭고 엄격한 신용평가를 거쳐
일정수준이상의 등급을 받아야하기 때문에 양키본드를 발행했다는 한가지
사실만으로도 해당기관 또는 기업체의 공신력이 인정됐다고 볼수 있는 부수
효과가 있다.
회계감사에서 문제가 제기된 이들 업체까지 포함할 경우 서울시 등록 상조업체 가운데 지급여력비율이 기준에 미달하는 업체는 65%에 이른다.

a corporation duly organized and existing under the laws of
the States of North Carolina, U.S.A and having its principal
office at C.P.O Box No. 211-1, Sanford, NC, 777-1234, U.S.A
(hereinafter referred to as " XYZ"),
이 판매점 계약서(이하 계약서라 칭함)는 1998년 9월15일 대한민국
서울에서 대한민국의 법률에 의해 설립되고 본사가 대한민국 서울시
종로구 사서함 번호 112-1에 소재한 ABC주식회사 (이하 ABC라 칭함)와
미국 북 캐롤라이나 (North Carolina)주 법률에 의해 설립되고
본사가 미국 북 캐롤라이나 주 샌포드(Sanford) 사서함 번호 211-1에
소재하는XYZ주식회사 (이하 XYZ라 칭함)간에 체결된다.
