보건복지부는 지난해 10월 뇌·뇌혈관의 MRI 검사에 건강보험을 적용한 후 올해 두경부·흉부·복부에 이어 내년에는 척추까지 확대한다.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare applied health insurance coverage for brain and cerebrovascular MRI scans from October of last year, as well as for scans of the head, chest, and abdomen this year, with plans to expand coverage to the spine next year.
이 교수는 "두경부암은 일반에게 낯설지만 우리나라에서 12번째로 많이 발생하는 암"이라며 "흡연자가 두경부암에 걸릴 확률이 비흡연자보다 15배 정도 높은데, 흡연 인구가 줄어들면서 구강암·후두암 발병률이 줄어들고 있다"고 했다.
Professor Lee said, "Head cervical cancer is unfamiliar to the general public, but it is the 12th most common cancer in Korea," adding, "The risk of smokers suffering from head and neck cancer is 15 times higher than that of non-smokers, and the incidence of oral and laryngeal cancer is decreasing as the smoking population decreases."
흡연자가 비흡연자보다 두경부암에 걸릴 확률이 15배 정도 높다.
