I look forward to old age without dismay. When Lawrence of Arabia was
killed I read in an article contributed by a friend that it was his
habit to ride his motor-bicycle at an excessive speed with the notion
that an accident would end his life while he was still in full
possession of his powers and so spare him the indignity of old age.
If this is true it was a great weakness in that strange and somewhat
theatrical character. It showed want of sense. For the complete life,

◆ view, sight, scene
view는 경치를 뜻하는 가장 일반적인 말입니다.

--> 항구경치를 잘 볼 수 있는 방이 있는지요?
sight는 관찰자의 관심을 끈다는 뜻입니다.

--> 그녀는 피를 보고 몸서리쳤어요.
scene는 미적인, 또는 극적인 의미를 가진 상징적인 경치를 의미합니다.

이 장애는 상당한 문화적 변수가 작용하며 비슷한 점이 있는 두가지 주된 형태가 있다. 그 한 형태는
정신노동 후의 피로감의 상승이며 이런 이유로 매일의 직업적 사무의 수행능력이 떨어지게 된다.
정신적 피로는 주의를 산만하게하는 생각과 과거 회상의 불유쾌한 기억이며 주의력 집중장애를
유발한다. 다른 한 형태는 작은 노동후에도 육체적 피로와 쇠약감을 느끼는 것이며 근육통과 반사장
애를 동반한다. 두 형태 모두 현기증, 긴장성두통, 정신적 불안정 등의 불유쾌한 신체적 자각이 뒤따
른다. 정신적, 신체적 건강에 대한 근심, 쾌감결여, 약간의 우울증과 불안이 있다. 수면 과잉이 주로

빛이 벽의 윗쪽이나 천장을 향하도록 한 간접조명방식. 소파나 식물의 뒤에 숨겨놓은 조명기구에 서 빛을 위로 비추면 극적인 효과를 연출할 수 있다.

A:정말 시험 때 컨닝할 생각이야?
B:뭐 어때? 난 항상 걸리지 않고 해 왔는데.
A:꼬리가 길면 밟히는 법이야.
'get away with'는 시험에서 부정 행위를 한다거나 도로에서 무단 횡단을
하는 것과 같이 나쁜 행동을 하고도 들키거나 처벌받지 않고 무사히
넘긴다는 뜻이다. 따라서 "I always get away with it."은 "나는 언제나
걸리지 않고 그 일을 해 왔다"는 뜻이다. 우리가 영화 등에서 많이 접할 수
있는 "그런 짓을 하고도 무사할 성 싶으냐?"와 같은 극적인 말도
이 표현을 써서 "You can't get away with it."이라고 하면 된다.
참고로 'get away with murder'라는 말도 있는데 이는 '매우 나쁜 짓을
하고도 들키지 않다'라는 비유적인 표현이다.
