출근 시간이 지나 배차 간격도 늘어났을 테니 극장까지 가려면
꽤나 시간이 걸릴 것 같다. 한 정거장만 가면 되는데… 오늘 왜
일이 자꾸 꼬이지? 시간은 시간대로 늦고 돈만 버리고, 되는 일이
없네. 차라리 뛰어갈 걸 그랬나 보다. 10여분이 지나자 열차가
들어오는 소리가 들렸다. 사람들이 우루루 열차문 앞에 몰렸다.

의미가 있습니다.
4. Get to the theater: 도착하다는 arrive를 흔히 쓰지만,
구어체에서는 get to가 더 일반적이지요.

거기 도착하거든 전화 좀 해.
5. For nothing: 거저라는 의미지요. 여기서는 소득도 없이
시간과 돈을 낭비했다는 의미입니다. Good for nothing이라는
말도 있는데요 아무짝에도 쓸모 없다는 말입니다.

6. Pulling in: 자동차나 기차 등이 서서히 자기쪽으로 오는 것을
pull in한다고 합니다. 여기서는 플랫폼으로 들어오는 것을
말하지요.
7. Didn't bother to line up: 줄을 서려고 애쓰지 않았다는
말이지요. Bother는 원래 일부러 수고를 해서 무엇무엇한다는
뜻입니다.
예를 들어, 누군가 귀찮은 걸 무릅쓰고 도와주려 한다면,

아이, 안그러셔도 됩니다. 너무 귀찮은 일이잖아요.
부정의 의미로 쓰이면, "신경을 전혀 쓰지 않는다"의 의미가

8. Stormed towards the train: Storm은 폭풍우를 말합니다.

9. The PA system cranked out a warning: PA는 public
announcement의 약자입니다.
Crank out은 시끄럽게 내질르는 걸 말하지요. 무더기로

Crank it up이라는 말도 잘 쓰는 데요. 볼륨을 높이라는
뜻입니다.
10. Jumping the line: 새치기하는 걸 말합니다. 줄을 건너 뛰는
것이지요.
Jump the queue는 영국식 영어지요. Jump the gun이라는 말도
있습니다. 달리기 선수들이 총을 쏘기도 전에 뛰어나가는 걸
말하지요. 비유적으로도 씁니다.
11. Force one's way through: 동사 + one's way + 전치사 형태는
유용하게 쓸 수 있는 구문입니다. 한번 살펴볼까요?

사람들을 헤집고 들어갔다.

팔꿈치로 밀고 버스 안으로 들어갔다.

가격의 교섭은 지불 조건과도 관련되는 교섭의 막바지 고비인데,

인식시켜서 가격을 내리는 것은 대단히 무리한 것임을 분명하게
밝혀야 합니다. 그러나 앞으로의 거래 관계를 유지해야 하는 점도
충분히 감안하여 양자의 접근과 타협으로 일을 성사시켜야
합니다. 제품의 상환인도는, 「본선인도」 FOB(=Free On Board),
「운임보험료포함」 CIF(=Cost Insurance and Freight)등이 있고,
실제의 교섭에서는 이 조건을 분명히 해서 (예를 들면 CIF New
York 이라든가 FOB SEOUL 등), 그로부터 가격을 결정하게 됩니다.

largest mobile service provider in Britain, is keen to strengthen its
presence elsewhere.
Vodafone has had a close relationship with Mannesmann. The two companies
are joint owners of Mannesmann's domestic wireless business, the biggest
in Germany, and of Omnitel and SFR, the No. 2 mobile companies in Italy
and France, respectively.

A generation ago, in the early 1970s, Greer was one of the early
investors in a struggling young company called Federal Express, then run
by a 20-something entrepreneur, Frederick W. Smith, who had the brash
idea of delivering mail and packages overnight.

Smith had already burned through two substantial rounds of funding in
building his fleet of airplanes. Though the business indicators looked
good, Federal Express's coffers were empty. And it was a day when people
clung to the quaint idea that a company had to show a profit to go
public.

Smith embarked on what became a desperation mission. He gave up half his
company for $4 million, a sum that seems trivial today. Greer, who had
invested in both earlier rounds, stayed with Federal Express for what
became a very lucrative investment for the VC firm. ``I was traveling to
the board meetings fairly often, and I could see things turning
around,'' he says now.

Here's the kicker: Greer still holds some of the original stock from
that round, known as a ``down round'' in VC parlance. ``I hold stock a
long time,'' he explained the other day at a Weiss, Peck & Greer
partners meeting at the Robert Mondavi Winery in Napa Valley.

What's probably just as noteworthy is that Smith and Greer have remained
friends despite the extraordinarily sweet deal the VCs got. In fact,
Greer has remained on Federal Express's board for a quarter-century. And
when Smith spoke to the assembled partners about the Internet economy --
his message was that the ordinary laws of physical distribution aren't
suspended for dot.coms -- it was Greer who warmly introduced him. It
doesn't hurt either man that Federal Express's market cap today is close
to $13 billion.

The primary difference between a son and a daughter is that a
daughter would have to leave her family and move into her husband
family once she gets married.

So when she gets married she is referred to as '시집가다' or literally
going to the in-law's house.

If she gets married to the '장남' she would move into the '큰 집'
whereas if she marries one of the younger sons their living arra-

Deference to superiors and elders is definitely present in a household
and order is maintained through this deference and obedience.

So children would obey their parents the wife the husband the younger
sibling the older and so forth.

All this is derived from filial piety one of many confucian virtues.

The large extended family is becoming less and less common during
the more recent years but the roles and relations within the family
remain largely unchanged.

Administrative Protective Order

An administrative protective order is the legal mechanism that controls the limited disclosure of
business proprietary information to representatives of interested parties. The Department
authorizes the release of proprietary information under administrative protective order only when
the representatives file a request in which they agree to the following four conditions: (a) to use
the information only in the antidumping proceeding, (b) to secure the information and protect it
from disclosure to any person not subject to an administrative protective order, (c) to report any
violation of the terms of the protective order, and (d) to acknowledge that they may be subject to
sanctions if they violate the terms of the order. (Section 777(c) of the Act. See also Proprietary
Information and Proprietary Treatment.)

Direct vs. Indirect Expenses
-
In calculating and adjusting normal value, the Department treats selling expenses differently
depending on whether they are direct expenses or indirect expenses. For instance,
circumstances-of-sale adjustments normally involve only direct expenses (and assumptions of
expenses on behalf of the buyer, see below) while the constructed export price offset involves
indirect expenses.

Direct expenses generally must be (1) variable and (2) traceable in a company's financial records
to sales of the merchandise under investigation.
-
1. Variable vs. fixed expenses: Direct expenses are typically variable expenses that are incurred
as a direct and unavoidable consequence of the sale (i.e., in the absence of the sale these
expenses would not be incurred). Indirect expenses are fixed expenses that are incurred
whether or not a sale is made.
-
The same expense may be classified as fixed or variable depending on how the expense is
incurred. For example, if an exporter pays an unaffiliated contractor to perform a service,
this fee would normally be considered variable and treated as a direct expense (provided that
condition 2, below, is also satisfied). However, if the exporter provides the service through a
salaried employee, the fixed salary expense will be treated as an indirect expense.

2. Tying of the expense to sales of the merchandise under investigation: Selling expenses must
be reasonably traceable to sales of the merchandise under investigation to qualify as direct
selling expenses. However, a fixed expense remains indirect even if allocable to the
merchandise under investigation

Common examples of direct selling expenses include credit expenses, commissions, and the
variable portions of guarantees, warranty, technical assistance, and servicing expenses. Common
examples of indirect selling expenses include inventory carrying costs, salesmen's salaries, and
product liability insurance. The Department also classifies the fixed portion of expenses, such as
salaries for employees who perform technical services or warranty repairs, as indirect expenses.

The Department treats assumptions of a customer's expenses as if they were direct expenses,
provided they are attributable to a later sale of the merchandise by the customer. For example,
the Department considers expenses incurred for advertising aimed at retailers to be assumptions
when the exporter is selling to wholesalers. (Section 351.404(d) of the regulations).

Inventory Carrying Costs

Inventory carrying costs are the interest expenses incurred (or interest revenue foregone) between
the time the merchandise leaves the production line at the factory to the time the goods are
shipped to the first unaffiliated customer. The Department normally calculates these costs by
applying the firm's annual short-term borrowing rate in the currency of the country where the
merchandise is held, prorated by the number of days between leaving the production line and
shipment to the customer, to the unit cost or price. (See also Imputed Expenses.)

제76조 ①대통령은 내우·외환·천재·지변 또는 중대한 재정·경제상의 위기에 있어서 국가의 안전보장 또는 공공의 안녕질서를 유지하기 위하여 긴급한 조치가 필요하고 국회의 집회를 기다릴 여유가 없을 때에 한하여 최소한으로 필요한 재정 ·경제상의 처분을 하거나 이에 관하여 법률의 효력을 가지는 명령을 발할 수 있다.
Article 76
(1) In case of internal turmoil, external menace, natural calamity or a grave financial or economic crisis, the President may take minimum necessary financial and economic actions or issue, in this regard, orders having the effect of Act, only when it is required to take urgent measures for maintenance of national security or public peace and order, and there is no time to await convening of the National Assembly.

(2) In case of grave state of hostilities affecting national security, the President may issue orders having the effect of Act, only when it is required to preserve the integrity of the nation, and it is impossible to convene the National Assembly.

(3) If the President has taken any action or issues any order pursuant to paragraphs (1) and (2), he/she shall promptly notify it to the National Assembly and obtain its approval.
④제3항의 승인을 얻지 못한 때에는 그 처분 또는 명령은 그때부터 효력을 상실한다. 이 경우 그 명령에 의하여 개정 또는 폐지되었던 법률은 그 명령이 승인을 얻지 못한 때부터 당연히 효력을 회복한다.
(4) If the President failed to obtain the approval as referred to in paragraph (3), the action or the order shall lose effect forthwith. In such case, the Acts which were amended or abolished by the order in question shall automatically regain their original effect at the moment the order failed to obtain approval.

(5) The President shall, without delay, put the developments under paragraphs (3) and (4) on public notice.

심한 정신과적 질환으로부터의 외상성 고통받는 기억에 의해 적어도 2년간 지속되는 인격변조. 이러
한 변조는 이전의 인격장애나 정신분열증의 잔류, 정신 장애의 불완전 치료 상태 등으로는 설명될
수 없다. 이 장애는 과도한 타인에 대한 의존심, 행동의 요구와, 질환에 의한 비난과 변화에 대해서
죄의식을 가져 타인과의 신뢰감을 유지하지 못하고 사회적으로 고립되는 것이 특징이다. 심기성
불평과 질병행동과 연관되어 질병이 있다는 것을 호소하며 레져(Leisure) 활동이나 즐거움에 대한
흥미를 잃는다. 현재의 정신장애나 이전의 장애에 대한 잔류증상이 아닌 신체위화감이나 불안정한
기분도 증상의 특징이며 심각한 직업적, 사회적 기능수행의 지속적인 문제를 가져온다.
