Making rope required room because rope had to be made in a straight
line. Because of space limits, ropemaking was done outdoors at first.
Soon it became necessary to produce rope no matter what the weather was

curtain wall은 장막벽이라고도 하는 비내력 외주벽으로, 철근콘크리트조, 철골조, 철골철근콘크리트조등의 구조에서 기둥, 보, 바닥판으로 형성되는 구조부(frame)의 외부를 금속재 또는 무기질 재료로써 공간의 수직방향으로 막아대는 비내력벽(non bearing wall)을 말한다.
초고층 건축공사에 있어서 curtain wall공사는 건축물의 외주벽을 구성하는 비내력벽으로서 구조체에 fastner로 부착시키는 공법으로 외주벽 curtain wall 의 주목적은 비와 바람으로부터의 보호이므로 내풍압과 접합수밀성이 중요한 기능요소가 된다.
