료하려 했을 가능성이 높은 것으로 설명하고 있다.
Some experts and former North Korean spies were opposed to the
infiltration speculation. They said it was more likely that the
submarine developed engine trouble and went adrift before it was
stranded on a reef 20 meters off the beach on the East Coast.
그러나 일부 북한 전문가들과 남파됐다 귀순한 북한공작원들은 이들
이 침투 임무를 띠지는 않았을 것이라는 분석을 내놓고 있다. 기관고
장으로 표류하다 강릉 앞바다 20m 지점에 좌초되었을 가능성이 크다

But the official said that ``we are not sure whether Lee is
telling the truth,'' adding that a massive manhunt continued for
the third consecutive day, with troops combing the rugged
mountains and valleys near the East Coast.

in mountains near Kangnung, where their abandoned and wrecked
submarine was found early Wednesday.

산악지대에 은신하고 있을 것으로 보여진다.
The Defense Ministry told journalists what Lee has confessed to
investigators. As for their mission, Lee has told investigators
that they came to collect information on the Kangnung air base
and a large antenna on the East Coast, as well as on the civil
defense drill held on Sept. 15. Lee, who called himself as a
submarine crew member, said it was the first time he has
infiltrated into the South.

련, 9월15일의 민방위 훈련 상태 정찰 및 강릉비행장과 동해안의 안
테나 정찰을 위해서"라고 했으며 자신에 대해서는 "잠수함 승조원으로
서 남한에는 처음 내려왔다"고 진술했다고 밝혔다.
According to Lee, the North Korean submarine left Wonsan at 5
a.m. Sunday and arrived at a beach at Anin, some 5 km south of
Kangnung and some 400 meters away from the point where the
submarine was later found stranded, at around 8 p.m.
이광수의 진술에 따르면 북한 잠수함은 지난 15일 오전 5시 원산항을
떠나 오후 8시쯤 강릉 남쪽 5km, 잠수함 좌초지역 400m 지점의 아닌
해안에 도착했다.

were found in a mountain south of Kangnung, saying those were the
bodies of the already dead North Koreans.

The United Nations Command (UNC) yesterday demanded North Korea
