10. 대부분의 한국의 큰 회사들은 수출에 의존한다.
→「most+명사/「most+형용사+명사」이다. 단 most of를 사용시는「the [my/these 기타]+명사」의 어순으로 한다. 따라서 most of people이라 하지 않고 most of these people이라 한다.
→ (Korean big) companies은 어순의 잘못.「국적을 나타내는 형용사는 명사에 가장 가까운 곳에 두는 것이 원칙인 때문이다.」Almost big companies ~로 하지 말 것. Almost all big Korean companies이면 좋다. Almost는 all을 수식하기 때문이다.

4. 이 창문이 아무리 해도 열리지 않아요. 움직일 수 있을지 어떨지 어떻게 해 보세요.
→ 「능력」을 나타내려면 can을 사용하는 것이 가장 一般的.

우리가 말하는 '백'을 영어로는 어떻게 표현할까?
가장 가까운 영어는 connections와 strings라 할 수 있다.
'줄을 잘 잡아야 출세한다.'는 말을 하는데 여기서 '줄'이
바로 strings다. '백을 쓴다'를 영어로는 pull strings
또는 use one's connections라고 표현한다. 예를 들어
He pulled strings to get a promotion. 라고 표현하면
'그는 승진하기 위해 백을 썼다'는 뜻이 되고
He used his connections to get a promotion. 도
마찬가지 의미가 된다. 그리고 '나는 백이 없다' 는
I have no connections 또는 I have no strings to pull.
이라 하면 된다.
- 그런 것은 참을 수가 없습니다.
'참고 견디다'는 put up with를 쓸 수 있다. suffer patiently 또는
tolerate같은 말도 있지만, 가급 간단한 것을 쓰는 것이 좋다.

능력을 포함하는 자신의 가장 좋은면을 보이는 것을 put one's best foot
forward라고 하는데, 이것을 응용해도 좋겠다.

에 있다' 라는 말입니다. cloud nine은 '더할 나위 없는 행복' 이라는
뜻을 가지고 있지요. 그런데 이 표현은 미국 기상청에서 실제로 쓰이
는 기상전문 용어이기도 합니다. 구름은 그 모양에 따라서 종류가 나
뉘게 되는데 분류된 구름은 각각 아홉가지의 층을 가지고 있다고 합니
다. 이 아홉가지 가운데에서 가장 높은 층의 구름을 바로 cloud nine
이라고 하는데 이 cloud nine은 지상에서 3만~4만 피트의 높이까지 이
르기 까지도 하는데 아마 누군가가 이 cloud nine 의 위치까지 있다면
정말 높은 곳에 있다고 볼 수 있겠지요. 우리 말에도 기분이 아주 좋
을때 "와~ 구름위를 나른다." 이런 표현을 쓰는 것처럼 영어에서도 이
cloud nine을 이용해서 "I'm on cloud nine today. (나는 기분이 굉장
히 좋다.)" 라는 말이 됩니다.
