미국에서는 영어외에 가장 많이 쓰이는 말은 스페인어이다.
New Mexico,California,Florida는 스페인계 이주민이 많아
전체 인구의 3분의 2이상이 된다는 군요. 그래서 상품설명
서에도 영어와 스페인어가 나란히 표기되기도 하고 도로 표
지판도 그렇다고 하는군요.
그리고 미래학자가 미국의 어린이가 배워야 할 3대 언어로

》 브라운관의 영어와 왜 그렇게 부르는지?

tube' 라는 article라는 글이 잡지에 실리면서 세상에 알려졌다고

잡지를 읽다 보니 'He is a Midas at the computer.'라는 말이
있던데 해석이 '그 사람은 컴퓨터를 굉장히 잘한다.'라고 되어
있었습니다.어째서 이런 뜻이 되는지...
Midas는 그리스 신화에 나오는 프몸어의 왕이죠.이 사람은 그
리스 신화의 주신인 디오니소스로부터 손에 닿는 것은 무엇이든
금으로 만들 수 있는 힘을 물려받았다고 합니다.여기서 유래가
되어 'have (a) Midas touch'라고 하면 '모든 것을 금으로 바꿀
수 있다.' 즉,돈 버는 요령,비법을 알고 있다는 뜻으로 쓰입니다
여기서 유래되어 Midas라고 하면 '그 방면에 탁월한 사람,거장'
의 뜻으로도 쓰이고 있습니다.
그래서 'Midas at ~'라고 하면 ' 그 사람은 ~분야에 마이더스(
뛰어난 사람)이다'의 뜻이 됩니다.

It's frustrating.
You're excited about the work you've just completed on your computer.
You start to print.
And suddenly it happens.

To make matters worse, when you take the empty color cartridge out of the printer and shake it, you can still hear ink inside.
Although only one color has run dry, the whole cartridge is now useless.
