오늘은 일상 생활에서 자주 쓰는 콩글리쉬를 하나 봅니다.
“이거 서비스로 드리는 겁니다”라는 표현있잖아요? 즉 ‘공짜다’라고 하는 거요. 이런 경우 많은 분들이 This is service.라고 하시는데 이렇게 말하면 원어민은 “무슨 소리죠?(What you mean?)”라고 할겁니다.
그럼 어떻게 말하면 될까요? 간단히 “This is free of charge.”하시던지 아니면 ~on the house라는 표현을 쓰면 됩니다. 예를 들어 “식사를 하시면 와인은 서비스로 드립니다”라고 할 때는 “Wine is on the house.”라고 하면 된다는 거에요. 서비스로 무언가 공짜로 받는 건 무지 기분 좋은 일이죠. 하지만 너무 좋아하진 마세요. 머리 벗어집니다.(became baldheaded) 그럼 대화를 봅니다.
