bark up the wrong tree: 잘못 짚다. 쓸데없는 짓을 하다.(to make the wrong choice and waste one's efforts)
ex1) If you think I'm responsible, you're barking up the wrong tree. You should be talking to my partner. She made the decision.
ex2) The plumber thought he knew the cause of the flooding, but he was on the wrong track.

put the cart before the horse: 적반하장(to be illogical, to be done in the wrong order)
→ 고대 그리스나 로마인들이 광산에서 석탄 채굴한 뒤 말과 수레를 이용할 때 내리막길에서 수레는 중력으로 내려가고 말은 뒤에서 버티는 역할만 하고 있는 상태를 가리키는 데서 유래.
ex) Buying a new car before you've actually gotten a raise seems to be putting the cart before the horse.

wrong side of the blanket: 사생아
→ 담요의 엉뚱한 곳에서 태어났다는 말. 즉, 바람을 피우다 난 아이.

→ 꿈자리가 나빠 평소에 침대에서 나오는 방향이 아닌 다른 방향으로 나왔기에.

7. 그는 자기가 나쁜 일을 해도 결코 인정하려고 하지 않는다.
→ 「결코 ~하려고 하지 않는다」는 will never로 좋다. Would는 過去의 習慣을 나타내는데 사용하는 수가 있는데 will은 「現在의 習慣·傾向」을 나타낸다.
→ Even he does something wrong처럼 if를 빠트리는 것은 잘못 Even if he 로 하지 않으면 안 된다.

반대로 Take my word for it.이라고 하면 '내 말을 믿어도 좋다'
즉 Believe me. Trust me.와 같은 의미이다.

한 말은 You're dead wrong 즉 '당신 생각이 완전히 틀렸어'란
뜻이었다. wrong앞에 dead란 단어를 더 갖다 붙여 dead wrong이라고
하면 '크게 틀렸다'는 말이 된다. 정말 안타까운 일이 미국 사람들이
틀렸다는 말을 항상 wrong으로만 하면 좋은데 all wet이니
way off base니 하는 말도 쓰니 정말 영어를 배우는 외국인들은
골치가 아프다. not hold water란 말도 있는데 '물을 잡고 있지
않다'는 말이 되지만 사실은 '말이 안 된다' 또는 '틀렸다'는 뜻이다.
