Ford is giving workers at three truck plants at least nine days off
with pay as the company shipped 70,000 tires meant for new vehicles
to dealers to replace some of the 6.5 million Firestones that have
been recalled. Meanwhile company spokesman Jason Vine says Ford
is not thinking about expanding its recall, despite a lawsuit
seeking the recall of all Firestone radial ATX, ATX II's and
Wilderness AT II tires.
