(ANS) The dietary pattern in our country has largely changed nowadays with the advent of an era of instant food. Many of traditional dishes have been replaced by instant food items that are readily available in groceries. In industrial societies, such a phenomenon is inevitable, since fast food makes it possible for busy hardworking people to save time and energy.
But in the wake of such a drastic change, some immoral food producers have been producing unwholesome food items potentially harmful to the health of consumers, taking advantage of the mass consumption of instant food. Under these circumstances it is more than appropriate that the public health authorities should have conducted an all-out inspection to root out substandard food.

The day began early in the morning.
I had some trouble as soon as I woke up.
Mike said he had a stomachache.
He said he would die if I didn't bring the doctor.

Apparently Mike had a math test that morning.
I went back upstairs, pulled him out of bed, and took him downstairs.
Mike's stomachache disappeared immediately when he smelled breakfast.

Not being able to fall asleep after going to bed at night or waking up too early in the morning is usually called insomnia.
In teenagers, insomnia is so frequent that it is almost "normal."
For some reason, teens fall asleep later than they did as children.
For example, if a child was used to going to bed at 8 p.m., a teen probably is not ready for sleep until 11 p.m.
No wonder so many teenagers complain of not being able to fall asleep and then feeling tired at school the next morning.

Before our two teens went out with friends for the evening, my husband and I would negotiate a reasonable curfew for their return.
Instead of waiting up for them past our own bedtime, we would set our alarm to ring at their curfew time.
If they were late and the alarm woke us up, we would know that they missed their curfew.
We always encouraged them to call us if they were going to be late.
We preferred waking up to their voice on the phone rather than being startled by the alarm going off and not knowing where they were.

Frodo woke and found himself lying in bed.
At first he thought that he had slept late, after a long unpleasant dream that still hovered on the edge of memory.
Or perhaps he had been ill?
But the ceiling looked strange; it was flat, and it had dark beams richly carved.
He lay a little while longer looking at patches of sunlight on the wall, and listening to the sound of the waterfall.
“Where am I, and what is the time?” He said aloud to the ceiling.
“In the House of Elrond, and it is ten o'clock in the morning,” said a voice.
There was the old wizard, sitting in a chair by the open window.

They were in high spirits as the newly-wed couple, Kim and Krickitt Carpenter, headed toward Phoenix to spend Thanksgiving with their family.
They were driving their new car and chatting about the Cowboys, the university baseball team that Kim coached back in their hometown of Las Vegas.
It was pitch-dark at 6:30 p.m., and by then Krickitt had taken the wheel.
Kim, who had a head cold, had gotten in the back seat of the car so he could lie down.
Six miles west of Gallup, on Interstate 40, suddenly a truck sped by.
The exhaust smoke from the truck blinded Krichitt.
Kim woke to Krickitt's scream.

I know that my apple trees bend over the fence and seem to look down at your children with interest.
And I also know that it is only natural that your children should return that interest by picking the apples that hang over your side of the fence.
But, to be plain with you, I am tired of seeing your children, day after day, tear the branches off the side of every one of my apple trees, and leave my trees looking as though a battle had been fought on one side of them.
I am even more tired of waking these fine autumn mornings to find even the apples on my side of the fence much decreased in number.

Just that morning when she woke up in her own bed she thought, “Another hot, humid, dull day, just like every other day this summer.”
But then she remembered! Today was different.
Her favorite aunt and uncle, Melissa and Sean, had invited her to join them on a backpacking trip.
They picked her up at 8:00 A.M. and drove most of the day to get to the national park.
They just had time to pitch their tents, build the fire, and cook dinner before it got dark.
Emily went into the forest to gather firewood.
Then she helped Melissa make hamburger patties.
She didn't realize how hungry she was until she smelled them cooking.
Everything tasted better.
Emily

The highlight of the adventure came when our van spotted a lion lazily snoring in his sleep.
As the lion woke up, it jumped from beneath the tree and pounded towards the fear-stricken gazelles.
The lion tackled his prey from behind, and the gazelle crashed into the ground right in front of our van.
When I had recovered from the shock, the lion calmly caught his prey in the mouth, and carried it to the nearest tree.
When he feasted on his menu, I could hear the sounds of bones crunching.
When I realized myself in the van, horror in my face disappeared slowly.
I felt like the National Geographic photographer as I took pictures of the lion deeply occupied in his feast.

After that feast, I dozed off.
Thank heavens he woke me up in time to get off and catch the train at Barstow.
If he hadn't awakened me, I never would have made it.

I don't wake up even with an alarm clock.
Sometimes I hear the buzzing, but I often sleep right through it.
I now have two clocks right next to me but it doesn't help.
They still can't get me up.

My mother has gotten so disgusted with me that she refuses to wake me up.
She says, "If you don't hear the alarm, it's your tough luck."

At about 200 ft. beneath the sea all the men suffered frequent
headache, occasional absent-mindedness, and the strange experience of
waking at night perspiring even while feeling bonechilling cold.

The congressman's wife shook him vigorously in the middle of the night.
"Wake up, Adam!" she whispered frantically. "There's a thief in the house!"
"No way," came the sleep reply. "In the Senate, maybe. In the House never."

*say to oneself 생각하다 think:
I woke up early and said to myself, "Shall I get up?"

When the farmer and his wife returned home from a visit to the city,
their friends asked what they had thought of the place.
"It's beautiful," the man answered, "and the people are very kind.
One evening we went to a theater that said, 'ballet,' and we had
just sat down when my wife fell asleep. Well, about 20 men and women
came out on stage, and so as not to wake her, they all danced on
their toes."

He has, we may suppose, a charming house, a charming wife, and charming
children. He wakes up early in the morning while they are still asleep
and hurries off to his office.
There it is his duty to display the qualities of a great executive; he
cultivates a firm jaw, a decisive manner of speech, and an air of
sagacious reserve calculated to impress everybody except the office boy.
He dictates letters, converses with various important persons on the
phone, studies the market, and presently has lunch with some person
with whom he is conducting or hoping to conduct a deal.
The same sort of thing goes on all the afternoon. He arrives home, tired,
just in time to dress for dinner. At dinner he and a number of other
tired men have to pretend to enjoy the company of ladies who have no
occasion to feel tired yet. How many hours it may take the poor man
to escape, it is impossible to foresee.

I woke up last night biting my tongue.

Sue had a newspaper route in her neighborhood. She got up at 5:30 every
morning to deliver the newspapers to her customers. She had this job for
a year and never missed a day. It did not matter whether it rained or
snowed. Her customers were all satisfied because they were always sure
they would get the news early in the morning. Sometimes Sue woke up
feeling sick. However, she delivered the newspapers not to disappoint her
customers.

I was riding my bicycle fast and a truck drove in front of me. When I put
on the brakes, the bike stopped, but I didn't. I recall flying over the
handlebars and slamming into the road head first, my shoulder hitting the
pavement. I was then taken to the hospital and treated. When I woke up, a
nurse said. "You're really lucky." showing me my helmet. It was split in
half. That could have been my head.

The bedroom smelled of the wood it was made of. Early in the morning
the pleasant smell of the wet forest entered through the screen. The
walls in the camp were thin, and when I woke up, I dressed softly so as
not to wake the others. I came out quietly into the sweet outdoors and
started out in the boat along the shore. The lake was cool and motionless
in the long shadows of the tall trees. Nothing disturbed the stillness of
the lake.

It Might Be You
Time,I've been passing time watching trains go by.
All of my life lying on the sand watching seabirds fly.
Wishing there would be someone watching home for me.
Something's telling me it might be you.
All of my life looking back as lovers go walking past.
All of my life wondering how they met and one makes it last
If I found the place would I recognize the face.
Something's telling me it might be you.
So many quiet walks to take,
So many dreams to wake,
And we so much love to make.
I think we're gonna need some time.
May be all we need is time.
And it's telling me it might be you.
All of my life I've been saving love songs of ~ by

Good morning. This is your wake-up call.

Hibernators have two kinds of fat: regular white fat and a special brown fat.
The brown fat forms patches near the animal's brain, heart and lungs.
It sends a quick burst of energy to warm these organs first when it is time to wake up.

True hibernators go into such a deep sleep that they are difficult to wake and may appear dead.
Their body temperature drops and breathing and heart beat slow down significantly.
For example, a hibernating woodchuck's heart rate slows from 80 to 4 beats per minute, and its temperature drops from 98 F to as low as 38 F.
If its temperature falls too low, it will awaken slightly and shiver to warm up a bit.
If an animal lives in an area where the winter is mild, it may hibernate only briefly, or not at all.
However, even when the weather is severe, hibernators may wake up for short periods every few weeks to use their "toilet rooms" and eat if food is available.

Other hibernating animals do not experience major changes in temperature, heart rate and breathing.
Animals such as skunks, raccoons and some chipmunks are the light sleepers, easily awakened.
They may sleep during the most severe weather and wake to roam and eat during milder weather.

The largest hibernators are the bears.
Although a grizzly or black bear's heart rate may drop from a normal of 40-50 beats per minute down to 8-12, its temperature drops only slightly, allowing it to wake up quickly.
These bears are also unique because, unlike other hibernators, they do not eat, drink, or excrete at all while hibernating, which can be as long as six months.

Recently, after eating a little bit of sushi, I woke up in the middle of
the night and told my husband I felt itchy, especially the palms of my
hands and the soles of my feet. My skin was red and blotchy, and my
throat was terribly sore. I'd had mild allergic reactions to seafood
before, so I got up, took an antihistamine and tried to go back to
sleep, even though I was having a hard time swallowing. I never
connected the sore throat to the itching and didn't look in the mirror
until I woke up the next morning. I was shocked to see that my eyes were
puffy and swollen.

About an hour later, he woke up suddenly in the middle of a dream.
In his dream, he was in a crowded tunnel.
People were pushing him from all directions, and pulling at his clothes.
As he woke up, he realized that it wasn't only a dream― somebody was really pulling at his coat pocket.

Yesterday in the middle of the night, I woke up suddenly.
I heard the tinkle of broken glass from downstairs, and I heard the window opening.
Then I heard two voices.
My wife woke up, too.
She told me to do something.

And then he woke up, and there was this, this big plant

But then everyone will know. Unless I get them, and then wake up really early and put them back!

This is so typical. Y'know, we give, and we give, and we give. And then- we just get nothing back! And then one day, y'know, it's just, you wake up, and "See you around!" Let's go, Phoebe.
