The Tower of Pisa is the bell tower of the Cathedral.
Its construction began in the August of 1173 and continued (with two long interruptions) for about two hundred years.
Two renowned architects planned the tower, and workers began to construct it.
Soon, the builders discovered that they had made a mistake.
The ground under the tower was too soft.
One side of the building began to sink.
Work ceased, and the church structure remained unfinished for more than 150 years.
The Leaning Tower of Pisa is still standing, but it continues to lean a little more each year.
People are afraid the tower might topple over some day.
