Born in Texas in 1890, Katherine Anne Porter produced three collections of
short stories before publishing her well-known novel "Ship of Fools" in 1962.

At Liverpool Street Station in London, she bought a magazine and got on the train.

Cross-Patch 성미가 까다롭고 심기가 나쁜 사람을 나타내는 속어적
표현이죠. cross라고 하는 말은 우리 말에서도 '심기가 뒤틀리다'
라고 말을 하는 것 처럼 신경질 적이고 시큰둥한 성격을 표현하죠.
Patch는 원래 바보라는 말의 고어적 표현이었습니다. 하지만 영국
의 유명한 극작가인 세익스피어의 작품에서 친구라는 의미로 많이
사용이 되었죠. 그 이후에 '친구, 녀석, 사람' 의 의미로도 사용이

리의 짐꾼이지? ) 라는 문장도 성립하죠. 그래서 patch는 friend의
의미가 되고 cross는 성미가 까다로운, 심기가 뒤틀린, 이런 말이
