Frankly, Korean colleges and universities have been not very interested
in upgrading their educational standards. Their focus has been placed on
recruiting as many students as they can, rather than in improving the
conditions of education they provide for the students they have. In a
sense, this has been possible because of the vast demand for tertiary
education under Korea's peculiar social convention.

The freedom to be playful expands creative opportunities.
The spirit that allows people to wear a peculiar tie or to laugh out loud without fearing what others think is the same spirit that encourages them to consider new ideas.

사람들에게 특이한 넥타이를 착용하도록 해주거나 다른 사람들이 어떻게 생각할지 개의치 않고 크게 웃을 수 있게 해주는 정신이 새로운 아이디어를 생각하도록 격려해주는 정신과 같은 것이다.

I will do my best to reinforce the lecture with as many live examples
as possible. The lectures should give the people attending at least an
idea of the problems concerned, though, of course, application would
require a far more elaborate curriculum as well as time.
