Last Sunday I paid a visit to the zoo in Washington D.C.
I visited the monkeys first.
They were of various types from different parts of the world.
They were all very active, though they had been in their cages for a long time.
Then, we went to the places where the tigers and the lions were kept.
These animals did not seem to be active like the monkeys.
They were all lying down and looking at the visitors.

At the zoo, Simaba the lion was very sick.
The animal doctor came and tried giving him some red meat full of medicine.
Poor Simba did not even raise his head.
Finally, Simba stopped breathing.
The doctor said, with tears in his eyes, “I regret to tell you that Simba is dead.”
The little children were very shocked to hear it.
“I feel like I've lost an old friend.
I can remember reporting Simba's birth,” said a reporter.

One of the most powerful kinds of storms is the hurricane.

The winds lion hurricanes can reach speeds of up to 200 miles per hour.
Rail often pours down in solid sheets, causing floods and water damage.
These dreaded storms pack so much that the energy from just one day of a hurricane

The highlight of the adventure came when our van spotted a lion lazily snoring in his sleep.
As the lion woke up, it jumped from beneath the tree and pounded towards the fear-stricken gazelles.
The lion tackled his prey from behind, and the gazelle crashed into the ground right in front of our van.
When I had recovered from the shock, the lion calmly caught his prey in the mouth, and carried it to the nearest tree.
When he feasted on his menu, I could hear the sounds of bones crunching.
When I realized myself in the van, horror in my face disappeared slowly.
I felt like the National Geographic photographer as I took pictures of the lion deeply occupied in his feast.

There is a cat with almost as many names as its proverbial nine lives.
Depending on who is doing the talking, it is known as puma, cougar,
cata- mount, panther and mountain lion. And the zoologist may refer to
it as Felis concolor its official name in the Animal Kingdom, so to
avoid confusion, we will simply call it the mountain lion. The mountain
lion can grow up to seven feet
in length and can bring down prey as big as deer. It is the largest
member of the Felini branch of the cat family, so despite its size, it
is more closely related to the domestic cat than to the lions, tigers,
jaguars and leopards of the Pantherini branch of cats. Like the domestic
cat, the mountain lion does not have the Pantherini throat anatomy that
enables it to roar. Mountain lion is actually a misnomer because this
cat can live in almost any environment, and its range is from southern
British Columbia to the tip of South America.
British Columbia

Amazingly, lions live here, too.

In savanah country huge herds of games support prides containing 20 lions or more.
But to live here lions have had to change their habits - prides are much smaller

their food is always on the move.
Like the elephants, the lions must travel great distances to find enough to live on.
But lions can't go everywhere -

which eventually they must to find food and water.
And then the lions will ambush them.

Within a week the flash flood has produced a flush of green,

It's a rare chance for them to build up their food reserves.

Active self-defense is less common, though some large grazing mammals will vigorously defend their young from predators such as lions.
Many other defenses, however, rely on adaptive coloration, which has evolved repeatedly among animals.

Whales in the ocean seem to send a sound to one another.
Each whale has its own song and communicates with other whales using the song.
Similarly, mother lions make gentle sounds to call their babies.
They use other sounds to warn the young animals about danger.
The songs of birds also carry messages.
In one song they may be attracting their mates.
In another song they may be saying, “This is my garden. Stay out.”

But even as competition intensifies, there's little doubt that Microsoft
still controls the lion's share of the marketplace.
Alternatives to the Windows-powered PC, such as so-called
``Internet appliances'' and the Linux operating system, will and
have appealed to individuals, small users and some departments
within corporations.
But most large businesses are still committed to Microsoft.

Tretiak: This woman has repeatedly avoided my agents' attempts to
find the formula. She's cagey, difficult.
Templar: Maybe your agents are stupic. I think this inspiration
would cost you three million dollars.
Tretiak: Ridiculous.
Templar: Why? You'll have the world market in energy. COST YOU a
nickel for every million you make. His deposit should go to...
Tretiak: THIS IS NOT FOR ME, IT IS FOR Mother Russia.
Templar: But you want Mother Russia, too, Mr. Tretiak. Three mil-
lion on deposit in a bank account in Zurich. Agreed?

Judy : Hey, look! Isn't that Mrs. Thomas?
Peter: Who's that?
Judy : The realtor.
Alan : Quiet! Listen!
Do you hear that?
Judy : Hear what?
Alan : GET IN THE CAR.
Okay, think. What came out of the game before me?
Judy : Um, there was a lion, a bunch of monkeys, and, um...
Peter: That!
Alan : It's okay. It's okay! IT'S JUST A BUG.

Peter: Come on, Judy. He's not gonna help us. He's afraid.
Alan : What did you say?
Peter: You're afraid. It's okay to be afraid.
Let's go set it up in the living room.
Alan : No. (알랜은 뛰어가서 피터의 앞을 가로 막는다.) YOU HAVE NO
IDEA WHAT YOU'RE GETTING YOURSELF INTO.
Peter: Whatever it is,WE'LL HANDLE IT BY OURSELVES. We don't need
your help.
Alan : I don't think so.
You think monkeys, mosquitoes, and lions are bad?
That's just the beginning.

And on dry land the lion would win.
So, HOW MUCH WATER ARE WE TALKING ABOUT?
Erik : Two and a half feet.
Dexter: And how big is the shark?
Erik : Eleven feet.
Dexter: I STILL SAY THAT THE LION WOULD WIN.
Erik : Wrong.
Dexter: How can you be sure?
Erik : 'Cause they did research on it at Stanford University.
* 'cause = because
THE SHARK WON EASILY.
Dexter: They just let two animals kill each other as a college?
Erik : No, you idiot. They just had them fight long enough to see
who was going to win.
And then their trainers pulled them apart.
Dexter: How?
Erik : Haven't you ever heard of a leash?
Dexter: I NEVER HEARD OF A SHARK WITH A LEASH.
Erik : Well, there's a lot of things you've never heard of.
