You cannot have your ears pierced.
I don't want to talk about it any more.

And you cannot have your ears pierced.

But, Dad, I just want to have one ear pierced.

Although modern music often sounds cacophonous to the untrained ear, it is vigorously defended by many distinguished critics.

Grinning from ear to ear, Janet Evans was clearly elated by her Olympic victory.

The custom of decorating the body with jewels is an ancient habit.
The mode of the early cave people was to make necklaces from shells, seeds, pebbles and bones.
It was the fashion to wear bracelets and put pieces of bone or wood in the nose or ears.
As civilizations developed, so did fashions.
Body decoration, however, was, and still is a most popular means of showing human vanity.

Now my little kitten has turned into a beautiful cat.
Her fur is white, which makes the ears on top of her head look a little pink.
Her eyes are big and yellow.
When she's wide awake and in trouble, they can look as bright as the sun.
Her nose is pink, and under this is her mouth.
She has a sly smile on it.
On each side of his mouth are whiskers.
They are long and seem to dance in the sunlight.

There are many ways to communicate.
Gestures using motions are very common in communication all over the world.
Every gesture expresses different meanings and every country has its own language of gestures.
Let's look at one of the American gestures, for example.
Tapping your temple with your forefinger or making a circular motion around your ear, usually while rolling your eyes towards someone and then pointing at them, means that you disapprove of that person's behavior or opinion as being abnormal.

Most people are afraid of sharks, but they usually do not know very much about them.
Sharks do not have ears.
However, they hear sounds and movements in the water.
Any sound or movement makes the water vibrate.
Sharks can feel these vibrations, and they help the sharks find food.
Sharks use their large eyes to find food, too.
Scientists want to learn more about sharks for several reasons.
For example, cancer is very common in many animals, including people.
However, it is rare in sharks.
Scientists want to find out why sharks almost never get cancer.
Maybe this information can help people prevent cancer, too.

The experience is a familiar one to many in an emergency-room.
A patient who has been pronounced dead and unexpectedly recovers later describes what happened to him during those moments―sometimes hours―when his body showed no signs of life.
According to one repeated story, the patient feels himself rushing through a long, dark tunnel while noise rings in his ears.
Suddenly, he finds himself outside his own body, looking down with curious detachment at a medical team's efforts to revive him.
He hears what is said, notes what is happening but cannot communicate with anyone.
Soon, his attention is drawn to other presences in the room―spirits of dead relatives or friends―who communicate with him nonverbally.
Gradually, he is drawn to a vague ‘being of light.'
This being invites him to evaluate his life and shows him highlights of his past in panoramic vision.
The patient longs to stay with the being of light but is drawn back into his physical body and recovers.

According to their cultures, people have pierced and decorated their bodies throughout history.
Ear piercing has been popular in Europe since the eighteenth century,
when rich women wore diamonds in their ears to show their wealth.
People in India have been piercing their noses for a long time.
Group members in America often show that they belong by piercing certain body parts.
And some cultures have considered it beautiful to push needles through their skin.

1. to be or lie on the surface of something: The top of the mountain is covered with snow all year round.
2. to place or spread something upon, over, or in front of something in order to protect, hide, etc.: The noise was so loud that she covered her ears with her hands.
3. to include; consist of; take into account: The doctor's talk covered the complete history of medicine.
4. to travel a particular distance: I want to cover 50 miles before it gets dark.
5. to report the details of an event, e.g. for a newspaper: My editor sent me to cover the murder case.

The bush dog of South America has short legs but wide paws.
It lives near rivers, so the short legs and wide paws help it to swim.
The maned wolf lives in the grasslands of South America.
It has long, thin legs.
With them, the wolf can look out over the tall grasses.
The Arctic fox has tiny ears and thick fur.
As you can tell from its name, it lives in the frozen North.
There, the temperature can drop to 50 degrees or more below zero.
Because the fox’s ears are so small, they don’t lose much heat.
And the extra-thick fur helps keep the fox warm.

Hundreds of celebrities fail to make a favorable impression because they don't listen attentively.
They are so much concerned with what they are going to say next that they do not keep their ears open.
Very important people have said that they prefer good listeners to good talkers,
but the ability to listen seems rarer than almost any other good trait.
And not only important people strongly desire a good listener, but ordinary folks do, too.
As the Reader's Digest once said: “Many persons call a doctor when all they want is an audience.”
Reader's Digest

Five years ago evidence of air-bag injuries began to surface.
Drivers in minor fender benders suffered severe eye and ear injuries.
They also got broken bones and third-degree burns from the force of the inflating bags.
In December 1991 the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration(NHTSA) advised parents to avoid putting rear-facing infant seats in front of air bags, acknowledging that the force of the explosive bag could harm infants, whose head were only inches away from the devices.

The most fun is just being in town to see magic performed on the streets.
All over town―on the sidewalks, in parking lots, wherever a few people might stop to form an audience―you can find magicians doing their tricks.

But democracy is usually a tumultuous and unseemly affair, especially when men
feel strongly about vital issues. Probably since the first popular assembly convened
there have been presiding officers who turned a deaf ear to delegates they did not
like. Rival factions have always tried to pack the galleries and to shout down their
opponents. To take note of these historical facts is not to condone them. An unending
effort has to be made to create procedural sefeguards strong enough to curb the
ineradicable human impulse to unfairness. But critics should not pretend they were
born yesterday and are innocent of any knowledge of pressure tactics in politics.

And the people's affection for Washington shows in more indirect circumstances
still-in those quiet, unguarded moments visitors and residents as well set aside
words like access and power and amble among the monuments as subconscious
patriots. Children are more demonstrative. They shout up at Lincoln's capacious
ears, or take the Capitol three steps at a clip, acting as if they owned the place.
They cannot take the Capitol these days. Piles of wood lie on the steps, where
workmen are (hammering together) the viewing stands for the Inauguration.
clip: a rapid pace 빠른 걸음.

They used their eyes and ears along the way - recording land formations,
rivers, possible future routes, plant and animal life, and the habits
and attitudes of the indians.

My aunt deals with customer complaints at a retail store. She and my
uncle had had an argument, and to make up he waited in her
customer-service line. When it was his turn, he whispered in her ear
that he'd take her out to dinner that night. Her face lit up, and
she gave him a big kiss.
The next man in line stepped up and said, "I'm complaining about
the same thing he was."

In the day of Mussolini's prestige, it is said that he was once stranded
in a small town due to the breaking down of his automobile.
He went into a local cinema. When his picture appeared on the screen
everyone rose but he remained seated. The manager of the theater came
forward, tapped him on the shoulder, whispering in his ears, "I feel
the same way but you'd better stand up. It's safer."

Some people can learn a foreign language just by hearing it, and then
trying to speak it. Other people have to read it and write it in order to
learn it. So some people use their ears more, and others use their eyes
more to lean new things. Take another example. I can't learn how to use a
computer just by reading an instruction manual. But many people seem to
learn how to use a computer just by reading the manual. In short, people
learn things in different ways.

- OLD FRIENDS sung by EVERYTHING BUT THE GIRL
Not for the first time I look back on all those years
Not for the last time names will ring in my ears
When there was just a gang of us
storming the town by train and bus
A moment of thought this heart sends to old friends
Not for the first time I look back on my first love
Unable to speak or think or move, hand in glove
But what of it now where is she,
she who once meant so much to me
Because we are not, I can't pretend now old friends
I was told love should hold old friends
I was told love should hold old friends
But when you leave
You will close the door behind you
And time won't make amends to old friends
Standing here with my arm around you
Life's moved on

Lady (sung by Kenny Rogers)
-
Lady!(여인이여)
I'm your knight in shining armour
And I love you.
You have made me what I am
My love, there's so many ways
I want to say I love you
You have gone and made me such a fool
Let me hold you in my arms forever more-
I'm so lost in your love
And oh! We belong together.
Won't to belive in my song?
For so many years
I thought I never found you
You have come in to my life
And mainly home
Forever let me awake to see
You each every morning let me here you whisper softly in my ear
In my eyes I see no one else but you
There's no other love like our love
I'm yes!(그래요)
Oh yes!(정말 그렇다니까요)
I always want you near me
I've waited for you so long
Your love the only love I need
And besids me as ware I want you to be
Because My love there something I want you to know
You are the love of my life
You are my lady

*** She -- Green day
She, she's screams in silence
a solemn riot penetrate through her mind
waiting for a sign
