In an increasingly global food market, one of the most significant selections a consumer can make is to buy locally grown food.
In much of the world, farmers no longer sell food to their neighbors.
Instead, they sell it into a long and complex food chain of which they are a tiny part.
For example, potatoes sold in Peru's supermarkets are from the United States, even though Peru boasts more varieties of potato than any other country.
Buying food produced locally will help take some of the profits of food traders, brokers, shippers and processors,
and put them back in the pocket of the farmers and the rural community.

terms of physical bodies. The medical community did not look seriously at
the possibility that our mind could play an important role in illness and

You are a member of your family, a player on the community baseball team,
and a student in your school. You are also a citizen of your country. In
short, you occupy several different positions in the complex structure of
society. This means you should play many roles in different situations.
Generally, you have little difficulty performing each of your roles
because you know what is expected of you. This knowledge guides you
through your daily interactions.
But sometimes you will get caught in a conflict. Each role of yours makes
demands on you, and you may be asked to play two or more roles at the
same time. When many roles make conflicting demands on you, you may feel
quite uncomfortable and at times frustrated. For example, your family is
going on a picnic this coming Sunday. But your best friend wants you to
join his or her birthday party on the same day. When such role conflicts
occur, you need to do more important things first. Thus, the ability to
decide what to do in what order is an essential skill to fulfill multiple
social roles.

The term "law," as used in the phrases "a human law" and "a law of

Schooling, on the other hand, is a specific, formalized process, whose
general pattern varies little from one setting to the next. Throughout a
country, children arrive at school at approximately the same time, take
assigned seats, are taught by an adult, use similar textbooks, do
homework, take exams, and so on. The slices of reality that are to be
learned, whether they are the alphabet or an understanding of the
workings of government, have usually been limited by the boundaries of
the subject being taught. For example, high school students know that
they are not likely to find out in their classes the truth about
political problems in their communities or what the newest filmmakers
are experimenting with. There are definite conditions surrounding the
formalized process of schooling.

A distinctively American architecture began with Frank Lloyd Wright, who
had taken to heart the admonition that form should follow function, and
who thought of buildings not as separate architectural entities but as
parts of an organic whole that included the land, the community, and the
society. In a very real way the houses of colonial New England and some
of the southern plantations had been functional, but Wright was the
first architect to make functionalism the authoritative principle for
public as well as for domestic buildings.

Those who believe that drama evolved out of ritual also argue that those
rites contained the seed of theater because music, dance, masks, and
costumes were almost always used. Furthermore, a suitable site had to be
provided for performances, and when the entire community did not
participate, a clear division was usually made between the "acting area"
and the "auditorium." In addition, there were performers, and, since
considerable importance was attached to avoiding mistakes in the
enactment of rites, religious leaders usually assumed that task.

With the open countryside everywhere at hand, city dwellers naturally
shard in some of the rural diversions. Favored recreations included
fishing, hunting, skating, and swimming. But city dwellers also
developed other pleasures, which only compact communities made possible.
