Lebanese Use Viagra-like Wild Root
야생 식물 뿌리를 바이아그라로 사용하는 레바논 사람들
RASHAYA, Lebanon (AFP) _ Businessmen are competing to sell on
the international market a wild root known since the dawn of
time in Lebanon for having Viagra-like properties, only
without the side-effects.
The Shirsh Zallouh has long been timidly used against
frigidity and impotence, but since the popular worldwide
launch of the Viagra pill the Lebanese wild root has become
all the rage.

바이아그라와 같은 효능을 지녔으며 부작용도 없는 야생 식물

조금씩 사용해왔다
그러나 바이아그라정이 세계적으로 유명해지자 이 레바논 야생
식물 뿌리가 유행하게 되었다.

"I've had hundreds of clients, men and women, from across
Lebanon, Gulf countries and the Americas," said Ali Faour.
"They mostly come in complete secrecy to cure their
frigidity, impotence or those of their sons who cannot
deflower their brides," said the 70-year-old peasant who
takes pride in having been selling the root since his youth.

알리 파오르는 "레바논과 걸프 국가들 그리고 미주에서 남녀
환자들이 수백명 찾아왔다"고 말했다.

불감증과 발기 불능을 치료하기 위해 대개 비밀리에 온다,"
젊었을 때 부터 이 뿌리를 팔아온 것을 자랑스러워 하는 이
70세의 농부는 말했다.

The small shrub, with thin leaves and little white or yellow
flowers, has a "male" taproot or a "female" forked root
and grows at more than 2,500 meters (8,000 feet) on Mount
Hermon, at the joint borders of Lebanon, Syria and Israel.
"This is its home," said a resident of a village at the
foot of Mount Hermon in southeast Lebanon.

When snow melts at the end of winter, the villagers ride
their mules to gather the root at the top of Mount Hermon and
even reach Aarneh, a tiny hamlet on the Syrian side of the
mountain.
"In northern Lebanon, we also call it Hashishat al-Kattira,
or the herb of abundance. I saw it last Saturday at 3,000
meters (10,000 feet) at Qornet as-Sawda," Lebanon's highest
mountaintop, said ecologist Aref Qodaih.
겨울 끝무렵 눈이 녹을 때 마을 주민들은 노새를 타고 헤르몬산

Qoftan Jamal, a businessman from Rashaya in southeast
Lebanon, wants to market the product in three months under
the name of "Sex Roots" in the form of pills, powder and
liquid solution.
Jamal said he carried out tests for five years on a sample of
500 people from both sexes, divided into two groups: under 50
years and between 50 years and 80 years.

일본 검찰과 경찰은 곤 전 회장이 불법 수단을 동원해 레바논으로 출국한 것으로 판단하고 출입국 관리법 위반 등 혐의로 곤 전 회장의 여권 휴대 경위 및 출국과 관련한 수사를 진행하고 있다.
Japanese prosecutors and police believe Ghosn left for Lebanon using illegal means, and are investigating how Ghosn carried his passport and departure on charges of violating immigration law.

하지만 레바논과 일본 사이에는 범죄인 인도조약이 체결돼 있지 않고 레바논 정부는 곤 전 회장을 보호하겠다는 의지를 내비치고 있다.
However, there is no extradition treaty signed between Lebanon and Japan, and the Lebanese government is expressing its willingness to protect former president Ghosn.
