Beethoven 〔b´eitouv∂n〕

Beethoven and Mozart are my favorite composers.

* Movement : 악장

In a letter to a friend in 1821, Ludwig van Beethoven described how a beautiful piece of music came to him while sleeping in a carriage.

S1 : Our music class was very exciting. Beethoven's work is always touching.
S2 : You can say that again. By the way, what's the matter, So-ra? You look so serious.
S3 : I have lost my wallet.
S2 : I'm sorry to hear that. Let's ask our classmates. Has anyone found a wallet?
S4 : I have. Whose wallet is this? I found it in the music room.
S3 : It's mine. Thank you, Seon-hee.

Beethoven believed that music should be a medium for the expression of the
composer's ideas and that all other considerations were of secondary importance.
For him, the primary emphasis was upon content.

As a performer of Chopin, Arthur Rubinstein was rivaled in the second half of
the century only by Vladimir Horowitz. He was noted also for his performance of
Brahms, Schumann, Schubert, Beethoven, Liszt, Ravel and Debussy, Falla and Albeniz
and his Polish compatriot Symanowski.

The role of the rare individual who is conventionally said to have made
a discovery is much less unique in science than in other creative work.
It has been fairly said that if Beethoven had not written his symphonies
no one else would ever have done so. But if Darwin for instance, had
died young, someone else would certainly have put forward the theory of
Natural Selection. Indeed, someone else did, though in much less detail,
independently.

Because I suspect sound vibrations may be the ultimate cause of the collapse.
Are you saying Beethoven brought down the building?

Now, for Super Bowl XXXIV, there will be at least 13 advertisements for
dot-coms and online units of other companies. In wry fashion, the New
York Times even wrote that if Beethoven rewrote his Fifth Symphony for
the Super Bowl, it would begin: ''Dot, dot, dot, com; dot, dot, dot,
com.''
