Assigned to write the meaning of a vocabulary word, one of my sixth-grade students came to my desk, perplexed.
어휘표에 나오는 단어의 뜻을 써오라는 숙제를 받고서 나의 6학년 학생 한 명이 당혹해하며 나의 책상으로 찾아왔다.
She had looked it up in the glossary.
그녀는[그 학생은] 단어를 용어해설집에서 찾아보고서, "왜 이 단어는 뜻 풀이가 없어요?" 하고 물었다.
"Why doesn't this word have a definition?" she asked.
"All it says is 'Cannot be explained.'"
"나와 있는 것이라고는 '설명할 수 없다'는 말 뿐이예요."
I wondered about it as well.
나도 또한 의아하게 생각했다.
Then I looked at the word: inexplicable.
그리고는 그 단어, 즉 inexplicable(설명할 수 없는)을 보았다.

glossary (용어풀이)

This 1997 edition of the "Import Administration Antidumping Manual" incorporates changes to
Title VII of the Tariff Act of 1930 (the Act) as a result of the passage of the Uruguay Round
Agreements Act (URAA) on December 8, 1994. The manual also includes procedural and
technical information from the Administration's Statement of Administrative Action (SAA), as
well as 19 CFR 351, the Department of Commerce (DOC) antidumping regulations. Any terms
defined in the glossary (chapter 21), are bolded on their first use in each chapter.
금번 1997년판 「수입행정실 반덤핑지침서」는 1994년 12월 8일 우루
과이라운드협정 이행법(URAA)이 통과됨에 따라 변경된 1930년 관세법
제7편의 내용을 반영한 것이다.
본 지침서는 상무부(DOC) 반덤핑규정인 19CFR 351과 행정부의
행정조치지침(SAA)의 절차적이나 기술적인 사항도 포함하고 있다.

This glossary is intended to provide parties with a basic understanding of many antidumping
technical terms. These explanations are not regulations or rules with the force of law. As
difficult or detailed questions arise, the analyst should seek clarification from their program
manager or supervisor, rather than attempting to derive precise guidance from these general
explanations.
이 부분은 반덤핑과 관련한 기술적인 용어들에 대한 기본적인 개념을
설명하고 있다. 여기에서의 설명내용은 법적 강제성을 갖는 규정은
아니다. 까다롭고 복잡한 문제가 제기될 경우에는 여기에서 설명하고
있는 일반적인 설명으로는 부족하기 때문에 프로그램관리자나 감독관
과 상의해야 할 것이다.

용어집(用語集: glossary)

님비 : NIMBY 내 집 뜰에는 안 된다는 영어 'Not in my back yard'에서 나온 말로서, 쓰레기매립장, 분뇨처리장, 하수종말처리장 등 소위 혐오시설들의 지역주민 반대 현상을 나타내는 말이다.이에 대비하여 우리나라에서는 1990년에 환경오염피해 분쟁조정법을 마련하였다. 이는 우리나라뿐만 아니라 세계각국이 공통적으로 겪고있는 어려움이다. (웹쟁이 gongha17이 http://arsenel.paichai.ac.kr/~cogito/cai/wbi/glossary/na.htm에서 참조했어욤^^)
